Golf swing timing is among the most important factors when it comes to building a sound, repeatable golf swing that will hold up for an entire round. Some have said that timing is everything. That statement is true for many aspects of life and is certainly true for the golf swing.

Golf swing timing is all about the proper sequencing of the movements of the golf swing rather than the amount of time it takes to go from start to finish. That would be swing tempo.

Since timing is so critical to the golf swing, golfers have developed many tricks and techniques to help them with their swing timing. The entire pre-shot routine, as different as it is from one golfer to another, is ultimately intended to result in the proper swing timing once the swing movement begins.

The ability of a golfer to develop and maintain good swing timing has everything to do with their ability to control their body. The golfer must move a significant number of body parts in smooth sequence to create a good golf shot.

There is nothing unusual about this process for the golfer. Those participating in other sports face the same challenge. A baseball player for example must perform multiple physical and mental steps to hit a moving baseball. Football, basketball and hockey all make similar demands on their participants.

Interestingly enough many of the athletes in those other sports have an exercise program worked into their schedule where they work to condition their bodies to help them achieve their very best level of performance. You’ll notice too that virtually all of the PGA Tour players participate in some type of exercise and stretching program.

Yet many amateur golfers think that they can perform at a high level without an exercise or conditioning program. Not a very realistic approach given the mental and physical requirements of the golf swing. Developing the perfect golf swing timing is just as demanding and in some cases more so, than the moves used in other sports.

Of course those amateurs fail to realize the kind of consistent golf swing they seek. They continue to struggle with their golf game round after round. Years go by without any significant improvement in their handicap in spite of the new club and ball technology or the many new golf improvement gadgets and devices marketed to the masses of golfers anxious to improve their game the easy way.

The reason, at least in part, those golfers continue to struggle with poor swing timing is that golf has long been considered a leisure activity to be enjoyed with little need for physical or mental preparation. This thinking has resulted in countless golfers who fail to enjoy the game and in some cases caused injuries, back injuries for example, that the golfer will deal with for the rest of their lives.

Please allow me to recommend a reasonable golf fitness and stretching program to help you and your body develop that smooth, effortless and repeatable golf swing you have sought after for so long. That swing must be based upon perfect swing timing developed through better mind and body control which can only come from a golf specific workout program.

You see golf fitness is not as tough and rigorous as some people make it out to be. Many of the exercises are considered very light and can be done in whenever time permits. Some of the exercises can even be done in your office. Just a few seconds here and there at work is all you need.

It is time to face the reality that it will be very difficult to achieve good golf swing timing without attaining a reasonable level of golf fitness first. With all the help available online and elsewhere finding a program that fits your special situation and provides the benefits you seek could not be easier.

Do your research. Then choose a program and begin working toward improved fitness for golf. It won’t take long before you will see the difference a better body makes to a better golf swing. Start today.
